Comfortable bras vs. Sexy bras – what’s you verdict? I have big tits. Giant gazoongas. Lovely lady lumps and delicious double-Ds. It’s OK, I am not trying to make myself sound like your “dream woman”, it’s just a fact, OK? I have big boobs. Read my post My Big Boobs: Why They’re Not as Great as You Think.

Lots of us have boobs bigger than what we can deal with. In a recent and well regarded book, Breasts: A Natural and Unnatural History, journalist Florence Williams revealed that the average breast size has gotten larger. It’s gone from 34B to 36C over the course of 15 years, according to bra industry data. There are many journalists that point out that this really doesn’t indicate that boobs are getting bigger – just that women are buying bigger bras.

Why are bras so uncomfortable?

And of course, we are getting fatter. I am not fat but I have been. And yes, my large boobs were created during the time I was fat, age 14-16. Incidentally, my sister, who is also taller and thinner than me, has smaller boobs. Hers are like pretty little ski jumps, even after having two kids. Mine have always been like giant sacks of potatoes, although very lovely. My mother has giant boobs as well, despite being thin her whole life.

Bras are uncomfortable because they have freakin’ wire in them, guys! It’s like wearing the undercarriage of an umbrella strapped to your chest. When you put them on in the morning, they are uncomfortable, but over the course of the day they dig into your shoulders, dig into your chest and pull at your soft, delicate, lady-skin.

My breasts have gotten better with age

But I like my boobs. They are great. And you know what? They have gotten BETTER as I age – seriously! They are better, fuller, rounder and more lovely in my md-thirties than they were when I was 20. They are great. Honestly, sometimes your body DOES get better with ageing. If your body isn’t perfect today – take heart! It may be perfect tomorrow, you never know! Or maybe you’ll just learn to love it more.

Comfortable bras vs. Sexy bras – my own personal story

(Here’s a little secret for you, oh blog readers). My darling husband used to date a girl who decided to get a BOOB JOB during their relationship, which he helped fund, incidentally. I hate this story. I know he loves big boobies but if someone I loved was going in for non-elective, surgery I would convince them not to do it. Then I would tell them to spend the money on something more sensible – like property, a small business, your family or a giant Hello Kitty room. At least the Hello Kitty room won’t kill you. Surgery to your boobs might.

So, while we are talking about My Lovely Husband, we can also talk about nice underwear. Following on from him loving nice boobs, he also like nice underwear. And this is my point today. Nice underwear is not comfortable, or functional – but it’s not supposed to be, is it? After all, you only need to have it on for a few minutes if it’s doing its job. You may even be able to lie down, if it’s your lucky day. Comfortable bras vs. Sexy bras – what do you think?

What makes a bra comfortable?

• Thick straps (but not old lady)
• Underwire
• Triple clasps at the back
• Tightly adjustable straps
• Balconette separation for my boobs
• No itchy, cheap fabric
