Realising your dream of being a writer is something that you may have been thinking about for some time. Our dreams speak volumes about us as people. Sometimes they are laden with symbols and messages, but other times they point in the direction we are meant to go. For one of my readers, that dream was being a writer. Matt Banner found his passion and he chased it relentlessly. He has an amazing website (onblastblog) about blogging that I urge you to check out.
Now he has reached a major milestone in his journey, and he says that he couldn’t be happier. Today he’s going to help you find and pursue your dreams of becoming a writer as well. Not only will he offer his proven advice, but he’ll also show you a great infographic he designed to empower you as well.
3 Things Holding You Back From Your Dreams
Matt says, “Whether we’re willing to admit it or not, there are things in our lives that hold us back from realising our dream as a writer. Owning a blog can help you work through some of the these things as you’ll be able to put your thoughts on paper. Let’s take a look at three common examples of things that can hold you back.” These are:
1. You’re Stuck in a Routine
It’s so easy to get stuck in the same old routine. If you find yourself doing the same things every day, how can you ever hope to succeed? While routine may be comfortable, it will soon become boring and it will never afford you the time you need to do something amazing.
2. You’re Missing a Plan
While you may think you have a plan in place, if you step back and look really hard at the way things are going, you may realise that you don’t actually have a plan. Remember that you need direction, but more importantly you need to know how you wish to accomplish your goals.
3. You lack confidence
Lots of wannabe writers simply don’t back themselves enough. Great writing takes practice and lots of passion. If you don’t achieve what you want with a project, pitch or premise; try again. Be determined to hone and refine your craft and eventually the accolades will come.
