How to show love to your wife | Tips for a happy marriage
Are you wanting to show love to your wife? Good! Today is the day my husband proposed to me, exactly one year ago – June 9th, 2015. We got married last November and since then – well, a lot has happened, to say the least.
My hubby is an awesome guy, he really is. He often goes out of his way to do nice things for me and to make me feel good. We are not perfect by any means, but his love for me helps me to get through the day and feel good about life. Here are ways that he shows his love for me.
-
He picks me up from the train station
We only live 11 minutes’ walk from the train station but my husband will pick me up and/or drop me off if he can. This is very nice of him and it’s something I really appreciate. I don’t pick him up enough when I can because I don’t like driving very much – especially with him in the car!
-
He makes sure I eat a nice dinner
We both love to cook and my husband puts together lots of great meals. Cooking for someone is a great way to nurture them and show that you care as well as showing that you love your wife . If you can’t cook, don’t worry. Buy a selection of nice cheeses and deli meats, some fresh dips and crusty bread and you’re on your way.

He is nice to my friends and family
This is probably one of the most important things to do to show how much you love your wife. Treat the people she loves like your own friends and family, include them in conversations and be on your best behaviour when socialising.
-
He does not put up with my sh*t
Yeh, I do give him (and everyone else) sh*t sometimes, we all do, right? I mean, we are all human and we are not always charm personified. If I am in a really bad mood, he will let me rant a bit but always tells me when to stop. If I don’t he simply retreats into his man cave – which drives me crazy.
-
He is very affectionate
I have come to learn that not everyone needs lots of affection. In fact, I had one partner who simply hated signs of affection, as he was the only child of a suffocating mother, who smothered him throughout his childhood. Me? I love kisses, hugs, cuddles and all the other things. Bring ‘em on!

Things he doesn’t do but things you can do to show your wife you love her
-
Buy her flowers
I know that lots of men resist this – “why would I waste my money?” Do it. Flowers are romantic, dammit, and you can buy a bunch for a tenner. Don’t be stingy – treat your wife to some flowers for no reason. Just do it. Pink and red are the most romantic colours.
-
Buy her jewellery to show love to your wife
Again, just do it. I know you have a few dollars stashed somewhere! Don’t spend money you do not have but put a bit aside each week and surprise her when you can. Jewellery is great because (if you pick well) she will have it forever. Pawn and antique stores are nice as well, you can often find an olde worlde bargain.
-
Get or make her romantic chocolates
Everyone likes chocolates, even vegans, even health nuts. Observe her for a time and see what type she likes. If you are really ambitious, try your hand at making some romantic muffins. They really are not that hard and are difficult to stuff up completely. Here’s a basic muffin recipe; add whatever your wife likes, sweet or savoury.
-
Wash the sheets and towels
Sometimes my husband tries to wash my clothes to be nice and I hate this (poor guy, I haven’t told him). I am very particular with my washing and growing up, I didn’t even like my mum touching my things. But wash the sheets and towels, and tea towels and socks and things. They’re pretty safe and hard to stuff up (not that I think you would!)
-
Look after your health
Most importantly – look after yourself. Try to keep to a healthy weight, don’t stress your wife out by smoking or drinking too much, have frequent showers, look after your hair and teeth. When we love someone, we become attached to them so make sure you have as many happy years ahead of you as possible. If you want to show love to your wife, that’s a really great objective – best of luck!
Good luck in your marriage! I wish you all the best!
