Girl Crushes and Women I Admire

Ever had a crush on another girl? I have. I am not a lesbian but I adore women. I have eight best girlfriends and one adorable sister who I rely on for just about everything. I know some really strong women, working as everything from actors to doctors to marketers. Chicks are awesome.

Like most women, I have had girl crushes in my lifetime. These are particularly common with pre-pubescent girls who get crushes on slightly older girls they look up to. Sometimes this can be confused with love or sexual attraction. As an adult, I have often been attracted to women, but never enough to commit to full time lesbianism. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I won’t embarrass any of my friends by blogging about them, but you are all on my list. Apart from my lovely women friends, I have girl crushes on the following ladies.

Judge Judy

What? You thought this would be a sexy list, didn’t you? Sorry. I love Judge Judy and anyone who doesn’t, hasn’t watched her show closely enough. She is a ball-breaking, straight-talking dynamo who knows her shiz and has one of the sharpest minds you can witness. You can watch her listen to someone’s baloney story and pull it apart with ease. She can zero in on facts and pick lies. Watch her – she is awesome. Plus, you may learn a thing or two from Judy. One thing I learnt from Judy is that if something doesn’t make sense then it’s probably not true.

Tanya Plibersek

This lady is an Aussie politician and I saw her speak last year at an event on disability. She is an awesome speaker and very cool, calm and collected. Currently she is the Federal Member for Sydney. If you read about Tanya, she is the daughter of migrant parents from Slovenia, where half my family is also from. I even hold a Slovenian passport and I love it because the photo in it makes me look about 22. So where is Slovenia, I hear you ask? It’s pretty teeny tiny, so I’m not offended if you don’t know.

Victoria Beckham

Finally, someone hot on my list. A mum of four and married to a sexy footballer, I have always loved Posh Spice. She is now an acclaimed fashion designer too, despite some people criticizing her work early on in her career. She seems like a cool chick to me and I have read one of her two biographies. Just so you know, she never smiles because she doesn’t like her teeth and she is paranoid about her acne-marked skin. Poor love. I wish I was Victoria Beckham. I would like to have four kids and a size 6 ass.

Ayn Rand

I have no idea why this lady is on my list, but here she is. She’s a Russian-born American novelist, philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter and I first became aware of her because of Lululemon’s bizarre campaign which many people suggested had cult-like aspects to it. I love a good cult and I am fascinated by weird religions too, such as Scientology and Mormonism. Mormonism is very weird, particularly if you research it and discover that the entire book of Mormon was written by a guy yelling out words to his secretary after getting visions on a stone placed inside a hat. You think I’m kidding? It’s called scrying and it’s an occult practice, I guess you could say. Read more about Ayn Rand here. She had a lot going on.
