However stress can become detrimental to our health when it’s at high level and sustained over long periods of time. It may be that you are experiencing stress at work, you have amounted too much debt on credit cards for bad credit or you have relationship or health issues. Finding a release for all this negative stress is essential and that’s where following a creative interest really helps. Being creative releases endorphins, helps to get rid of stress which make you feel good.

Enhances brain function

Being creative keeps your brain sharp and has even been proven to hold back signs of dementia. Patients who have suffered a brain injury such as a stroke are often encouraged to take part in something creative and art therapy is on the rise as more and more people come to realise the benefits. Participating in a creative pastime is also beneficial to our mental health and wellbeing as endorphins are released, reducing stress and anxiety. Relationships can become healthier and less toxic when we are less stressed with other aspects of life.

Being creative is fun!

Learning something new and developing new skills is an enjoyable pastime. It keeps life interesting and fun. If you join a class of like-minded individuals you will enjoy the added benefit of meeting new friends. Being creative also encompasses singing, dance and drama, all of which allow complete escapism from everyday life, thereby reducing stress and anxiety. Gosh, I was exhilarated just reading this post. I caught the rush of endorphins from running through your writing and what you and your daughter went though. Wow 29 miles! At 12 years old and Wesley even younger achieving 20! Goodness me! Ok, I”ll level with you I”ve never run a race in my life. I was a library monitor to avoid the wind and cold and did Latin to avoid cross country at school ( it was the thought of having to shower naked in front to the other girls that terrified me I had no problem coming in last) . Love walking but the most I”ve ever done is 14/15 miles stat and that crippled me for days. Your raising athletes Zoot! It brings tears to my eyes they way you support and cherish your children. They are loved.
