What does it mean to dream of fire? Dreaming of Fire

Last night I was in an earthquake and a fire. I have never been in a natural disaster but when I dream about them they are very real and graphic. It’s almost as if I experiencing the moments before my death. I do not think I will die in a natural disaster, or that I am nearing death. I believe these dreams are a way for my subconscious to experience emotions that I would not be able to feel otherwise.

Dreaming of Fire: I was not that scared, but I knew I was in danger.

In my dream, the room I am in starts to turn upside down. There are many of us there. People are yelling and screaming. I become conscious that gravity has shifted. I cannot see. What was up is now down, what is down is now up. There is silence all around me, almost white noise. I think to myself, “This may be the end of me.” So I start to pray.

Then I become conscious of a few ‘housekeeping’ things that my conscious mind is communicating to my earthy body. I become aware that I am clutching my phone (god how I love my iphone) and I tell myself, “keep hold of the phone. It will come in useful later.” The next thought I have is about shielding my head. As up is down and down is up, I think to myself, “the most important thing to do is to try to stop your head from hitting anything.”

Dreaming of Fire: It was a very graphic dream.

I don’t always dream of earthquakes. I also dream of fires, of tsunamis of large floods and buildings coming down, like avalanches.

From Dream Symbols: To dream of an earthquake suggests that you are experiencing a major “shake-up” that is threatening your stability and foundation. The dream highlights your insecurity, fears and sense of helplessness. Is there something in your life that you feel at “fault” for? If you find cover from the quake, you will overcome these challenges. If you become trapped or injured during the quake, you will suffer some sort of loss in your life. According to the bible, earthquakes symbolize God’s anger and power.

My dream was not really about the earthquake. It was about fire.

So in the dream, my body lands fine and I am ok. But then I notice that I am on fire. The person who I am with helps me and I run to the door. As I try to escape the building, many other people are rushing in from outside. Many of them are burned too.

To dream that you are being burned by fire indicates that your temper is getting out of control. Some issue or situation is burning you up inside. To dream that a house is on fire indicates that you need to undergo some transformation. To dream that you put out a fire signifies that you will overcome your obstacles in your life through much work and effort. (source)

A note on dream symbols and Dreaming of Fire

Only the dreamer can correctly interpret his or her dreams. After a while you get better at practising this and you start to know what your dreams mean. I cannot tell you what it means to dream of fire. It’s important to use your intuition as well as looking at what else is going on in your dream.

I do not recommend this book – but I am referencing it here as it was how I got my start in dream study, but lots of the good parts have been taken out in the new versions and it is much more ‘en masse’ now and less esoteric. It is a fact that when we dream we often go to the astral plane. This is a real place and can be visited, in fact, you were probably there only hours ago.
